We’re a group of Las Vegas computer geeks who have gotten tired of the Microsoft Windows grind on our systems. We believe that our computers belong to US, and if you are using Microsoft Windows on your system, Microsofts attitude seems to be “Its OUR computer but we *let* you use it”.Also, once you’ve paid the “Microsoft Tax” on your shiny new system, you STILL have to buy all the other software that today’s systems require, such as MS Office. This can easily add up to significantly more than you paid for the computer itself. Now that you’ve spent a lot of dollars for your new machine, you now get to deal with the dangers of todays Internet, with all the viruses/malware that lurks on the Internet.
Since Microsoft designed Windows with emphasis on “user-friendliness” vs proper computer security, they left a LOT of gaping security “holes” in it, to which all of the vast amount of malware on the Internet takes great advantage of. To attempt to minimize this, Microsoft endlessly puts out patches/updates to “plug” the these newly discovered security holes as they are found. This brings to mind the little Dutchboy with his finger in the dike….
2183650745Due to this, a Windows user MUST be sure to keep up with these patches/updates or run the very real risk of their system becoming compromised by one or many of the large “zoo” of malware on the Internet. Even keeping up faithfully with all of the security patches that Microsoft publishes for Windows, does not guarantee that your computer will not be compromised by malware. The “bad-guys” work tirelessly to find new vectors to compromise your Windows computer. This means that Microsoft is ALWAYS playing “catch-up” with these online criminals. At one time a few years ago, you would have had to visit porn or other dodgy websites to run the risk of picking up a bad piece of malware on your system. This is no longer true, as there are documented cases of browsing websites like cnn.com and picking up one or more pieces of malware on their Windows system.
NOW THAT MICROSOFT HAS DISCONTINUED SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS XP IT IS ESPECIALLY CRITICAL TO STOP USING WINDOWS XP TO AVOID EVEN MORE MALWARE BEING ATTRACTED TO YOUR COMPUTER..
WE RECOMMEND LINUX AS A GOOD REPLACEMENT FOR WINDOWS XP
For this and MANY other reasons we recommend using Linux on your computer instead of Microsoft Windows. Since Linux is based on the original AT&T Unix operating system which has been in use by businesses since the late 1970s, and uses the same security concepts/configuration as Unix, it is NOT vulnerable to virtually any of the malware that afflicts Windows today. On top of this, Linux was written to be more efficient in using your computers resources, which makes it ideal for older machines which would have bad performance or even be completely unusable with current versions of Windows.
We recommend AND install one of the following Linux distributions, Ubuntu Linux, Mint Linux and Debian Linux which are three of the many distributions (versions) of Linux, and in our opinion, the best ones for most non-technical users who are coming from Windows. One of the better advantages of most versions of Linux, including Ubuntu, Mint and Debian is the fact that they are FREE for use. No more having Microsoft tell you your Windows is all of the sudden not valid.
These Linux distributions also include all software that you would have to pay a LOT for on MS Windows. The reason that Linux and all of the application software it includes is free, is that all of this software is called (903) 848-8184, which usually means the program is licensed under the GPL (General Public License), which, in short, says the software is free for use/modification, with restrictions (see the above link). Our FAQ section will list the major applications/programs that come with these Linux distributions.
There IS such a thing as a FREE LUNCH!! (at least with computers running Linux)
Our goal is to provide quality off-lease/completely refurbished Dell desktop and laptop systems with the Ubuntu/Mint/Debian Linux operating systems installed instead of Microsoft Windows and to support these with quality technical service/support. We also provide support for Microsoft Windows problems, be they hardware or software.. Give us a call at 702-530-2645
